Jasper Andrew Cecil has over 40 years’ experience in production and studio management. He has worked at the university as Production Manager, Head of Department and Director of Audio Visual, and taught video production to postgraduate media students for over 13 years.  Jasper holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, a Masters in Music Technology and various postgrad diplomas. He studied Advanced Video Production at Bath University and at the BBC (UK).


Vishnu Arunajallem is responsible for installations, repairs and technical operations.  On productions, he operates lighting and cameras as required. Vish has a Diploma in Electronics and over 23 years of experience in the AV industry, including 10 years in IT, having done setup, repairs and installation work



Xolani “X” Mnguni, is UTEL’s video editor and camera operator.  He also does vision mixing, graphic design, animation among other production tasks. He has a BA (Hons) in Digital Arts and has worked on many productions within the industry and at UKZN.  He is passionate about post production and video editing.



Sundragasen (San) Mudaly is responsible for converting, ingesting, editing and storing tape-based materials into digital formats.  He also undertakes metadata capture, format and conversion to industry standards. San has a Diploma in Electronics and is a FOCUS qualified trainer.  He has extensive technical experience with electronic and AV repairs, fibre-optic installation, networking and project management. 

Talisa Cindy-Leigh Majority provides administrative and secretarial support to UTEL.  She co-ordinates departmental activities, schedules and facilities, and liaises with users on behalf of the department.  Talisa has a Diploma in Marketing Management and has experience in reception and administrative roles.
